Christmas Wonderland

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! We will be back next year, blogging from a new classroom with a different look. I look forward to it. A big thank you to everyone who has read, followed or commented on the Tree of PRIDE in 2013! Have a great holiday and hope to see you sometime in 2014.

Our last post is inspired by a task set by our Twitter friends, Palmy Kids. Some of the students used Minecraft, others found their own app to create with.

The Challenge Tree for Term One

Room 16 have begun their Challenge Tree for the term. These are challenges you can complete at home. Then you share them with the class and me. The completed challenge is to go on your blog with a Challenge Tree label (plus other labels that fit).

Remember you have the rest of the term to complete some of these challenges. It is about quality not quantity. We would rather you did one or two of the challenges to your personal best standard and presented them effectively, than rush through all eight. The challenges match the learning and topics that we are covering in the class. At the moment we are learning about our own cultures and sharing things about us with others.

Welcome to Room 16!

Monday is our first day in Room 16! We have four returning students from Room 20, 2012 and twenty-four new students. I am very excited and looking forward to the best year yet!

I created this video from a folder of captured learning images in 2012 and included one nephew, two nieces and my eldest daughter Estelle meeting the pet lamb Melissa when she was little (Melissa is now a fat pet sheep). These images all capture the theme of learning through exploring and having fun.

It was inspired by this video from the teacher Stephanie Thompson. I follow her teaching blog and on Twitter. We share many similar teaching philosophies. Teachers are always learning. A lot of the words in my video are similar because I believe in them strongly too. I hope you enjoy it...

EB (Easter Bunny)

Our play/movie will be shown at assembly tomorrow morning at 9am. We have re-filmed all the scenes that got corrupted. Also, the Easter raffle will be drawn.

Describe to EB the egg you would like for Easter in the comments and she will do her best!
