I used the Google app Pow Toon to create a video showcasing some photos Mrs Hill took of Room 21 in the production. Journey Through The Legends has been a huge success and really is a tribute to all the students and teachers of Nga Rakau Nui. Tu meke! Wonderful job putting it altogether, Miss Hill! We look forward to the final performance tonight!

Production Build Up
We have been working very hard with Room 18 and some of Room 5 in creating our legend in the production. The production "Journey Through the Legends" is going to be amazing! Our legend is the "Seven Whales" and the audience are in for a treat. Here is a slideshow from one of practice days. It is set to one of our key songs, "Somewhere Beyond the Sea" by Bobby Darin (an oldie but a goodie). Enjoy!

Move Your Body
Move Your Body from Kieren Moriarty on Vimeo.
On Friday, we had a surprise at assembly. The teachers did a flashmob dance to Move Your Body by Beyoncé. You can watch it at the bottom of this post. The teachers had a special guest from Rezpect Dance Academy who taught us the dance. It is all about getting fit and giving it a go.
Afterwards, we have been learning the dance with our Totara Hub buddies, Room 7. Mr Cottrell knows the dance much better than me and has been a great teacher for all of us. The video above shows how well Room 6 and 7 did. This was their first time learning the dance. Everyone participated and contributed, showing real Parkvale PRIDE!

Year Six Break Up
Last week, the year sixes of Parkvale had their annual rock n' roll social. It is one of our finest traditions.
It really was a fantastic night! All the students looked amazing and danced with enthusiasm. The parents even got on the dance floor at the end. Congratulations to Tyler from Room 20 and Charlotte from Room 19 for winning the cup!
Hannah and Olivia have created a great little movie to share some of the fun with you...

Room 16's India
Our India topic has been wonderful. We have been cooking Indian food with Inderpreet's and Hemani's mums. Imaan's mum has created real henna with most of the girls and also shared food. We have learnt about henna, the wonderful architecture and love story of the Taj Mahal, and really enjoyed the music and dance of Bollywood.
In the last week of term, we are sharing our art in the Parkvale Arts Festival. If you scan our poster for the exhibition using the Aurasma augmented reality app, you will be able to watch our Bollywood trailer (which is also embedded below). Each class will have a poster featuring their own Aurasma for their arts display. All Room 16 students' Indian artworks also have a unique Aurasma video, which you will be able to scan at the art festival.

Legend of Te Mata, The Sleeping Giant
On Friday Room 16 were lucky to perform an item for the school at our PRIDE Assembly. We decided to retell the Legend of Te Mata. I was very proud of how Room 16 performed on stage and especially how everyone contributed and enjoyed themselves.
The video below captured most of their performance. Thank you Daniel for your excellent filming and funny feedback for Crighton. Look out for the Harlem Shake!

Rock n' Roll by Stefan
Rock N' Roll from Kieren Moriarty on Vimeo.
Today we have a guest blogger Stefan:
Today I created an Imovie on the Ipad for Rock n' Roll. The Super Hero like theme really summed up Rock n' Roll. Saving us from boredom! At Rock n' Roll we learnt the Gay Gordon, Rock n' Roll tap, The Red Hot Salsa, The Bus-stop and the Bunny Hop. My favourite is the Rock n' Roll tap!
