Wonder: Ordinary?

Wonder by R.J. Palacio is not an ordinary book. I love it. I am looking forward to reading it as a shared reading with Room 6. We have twenty copies of the book from the library. The book trailer above does a good job of advertising the book. It is persuading the viewer to read it. We discovered that the words come from the first chapter, Ordinary.

Ordinary

I know I'm not an ordinary ten-year old kid. I mean, sure, I do ordinary things. I eat ice cream. I ride my bike. I play ball. I have an XBox. Stuff like that makes me ordinary. I guess. And I feel ordinary. Inside. But I know ordinary kids don't make other ordinary kids run away screaming in playgrounds. I know ordinary kids don't get stared at wherever they go.

  1. This is one of my very favourite books. I first found this book in a little bookshop in Paris. I read the blurb and from there did not put it down for a few days. It has left a lasting effect on me ever since. It is a very powerful book. I look forward to seeing what impact the book has on you. Happy reading :)

  7. I remember reading this book and watching the video. I loved it so much. For me the video helped when it came to visualising and reading between the lines to try and describe/think of his true face. :)

    1. Thanks for the great comment, Felicity.

I so regret not getting to the end of the book in your class! That's one reason why I'm trying it again and this time the students have copies of the book too.
