Where The Wild Things Are

Watch Zach, Kayla, Liam, Jacob and Brooklyn perform a version of the very cool story "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak. The video was filmed and edited by Maia.

Where's My Teddy?

A page from the picture book by Jez Alborough

Here is Jared, George and Traylan's version of Where's My Teddy by Jez Alborough. I think they did very well. They recorded it one hour after getting the script.

Flax Rock Rocks!

Ezra, the supersonic climber!
We went rock climbing at Flax Rock and we loved it. Highly recommended! Room 6 were enthusiastic rock climbers and showed real Parkvale PRIDE, especially determination and enjoyment. I loved how the students supported each other. Check out their blogs for creative posts about their experiences!

Thank you to all the parents who made this possible!

Matilda showed super determination!

Master Chef Champions!

Our Master Chef day was so much fun! The Minions ended up overall champions, after winning the Brunch and the Spaghetti Tower Challenge. The lunch challenge was a six way tie, because we ran out of time to judge that. I was so proud of how all the tribes worked together, showing teamwork and putting Parkvale PRIDE into action. A huge thank you to the parents who helped on the day. Without you, none of this awesomely engaging learning opportunity would've happened.

Designing a new swimming pool

The rich task - key tricky word - compound shape!
Today, we did self assessment of where we thought we were on our rich task progression. It was a tough rich task and us teachers had many debates on ways to work it out.

Room 6 assessed what we could do well and what our next steps in learning are. Click on the cluttered notes on our Padlet and you can scroll through which each student wrote.

Tribe Logos

Warriors
Blueberries: Champion logo!
Our Survivor Camp tribes had lots of fun, designing and creating their logos. It was great to see the creativity and teamwork. I think they have all designed logos which represent their tribes effectively. Congratulations to the Blueberries, who won our logo design challenge, after receiving the most votes, beating the Warriors by one vote.

Tōtara Hub Sports Pals Rule!

George gets whacked by Ezra!
On Friday, our Tōtara Hub Sports Pals (Mary, Cameron and Kory) took our whole hub in a three game rotation. They taught us the games and then we played them on Paki's Paddock. We were split into six mixed teams across our hub and we had so much fun together. Everyone was fully participating and contributing. It is great to see the Tōtara Hub culture growing strong!
